Jude Law is an English film and stage actor, producer and director with a prolific and diverse acting career. Born in 1972 in London, Law started acting with the National Youth Music Theatre in 1987, and got his first TV role in 1989. Critical acclaim came to Law early on. As a young stage actor, he was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for outstanding newcomer. He was also nominated for a Tony award for "Indiscretions" in 1995. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Anthony Minghella's "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1999), for which he later won a best supporting actor BAFTA award. He was nominated for another Oscar in 2003 for his performance in the heartbreaking American Civil War drama "Cold Mountain," also directed by Minghella. Law has starred in numerous blockbuster hits, including "Alfie" (2004), "The Aviator" (2004), "Sherlock Holmes" (2009) alongside Robert Downey Jr. and its sequel "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2011). He's also appeared in a few indie favorites, such as the dystopian "Gattaca" (1997) and "I Heart Huckabees" (2004). Jude Law famously cheated his wife of three years, the gorgeous British actress Sienna Miller, with his children's nanny.
